- We noticed a significant lack of inter-personal communication
- The main focus of the project will be the use of audio as a tool to facilitate
- social interaction by way of location-based services

OPPORTUNITIES:
- AUDITORY SCENE ANALYSIS: Being able to take an audio stream and segregate the different parts of the audio stream to just focus on one tone (or sound). Scenario's could include a a group of friends that want to get together at a loud party and need to find a way of getting together more effectively (as opposed to sending out multiple txt messages).
- ECHO LOCATION AND SONAR: Being able to send out a distress signal in situations where a person is lost (e.g., in noisy situations or large crowds of people) or in need of assistance.
- MUSIC & EMOTION: Music is an integral party of Gen-Y, ultimately feeding the need for emotional outlets, entertainment, background noise, and social status. It is often used as a means of connecting with other people.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
- Facilitate the Coordination of events amongst multiple friends through social networking mediums
- Incorporate location-based services as a means of providing a place for face-to-face meetings
SOLUTION IDEAS:
- AUDITORY SCENE ANALYSIS:
- A device placed in the middle of the party by the owner of the party that read in the sound at the party and segregate each attendee's voice from the audio stream to update each of those people's Facebook (or other social networking profiles) to indicate they are at a party. The Facebook update would display the location of the party and the other attendees so other Facebook friends can decide to attend the party
- ECHO LOCATION AND SONAR:
- A Distress signal would get broadcasted sending out or retrieving "breadcrumbs" to a location or a nearby group of individuals
- MUSIC & EMOTION:
- Individuals listening to the same music could potentially be friends. If there was a way to view playlists or sense the the style of music that individuals in your vicinity are listening to, you could potentially strike up a conversation with them based on the common interest in music. Relationships could develop in a more natural way (as opposed to conversing through a digital means)
- An alternate idea is to have a peripheral device sense the mood, emotional, or physical state you are in and play an appropriate song, at the same time it would update your social networking page to inform your "friends" how you are feeling so they know if it's a good time contact or, preferably, visit you
