A few individuals around the world have recently implemented an interesting method of Geo-tagging using audio. The first is called Geo Graffiti while the second is called AudioTagger. Generally, these two function similarly. Basically, taking the Google Maps API (or some similar software), they allow users to upload audio samples tagged with a specific geographical co-ordinate and display it on the map for other users to view/hear.
But, wouldn't it be nice to actually see these audio clips in an augmented reality situation while walking down the street? So, for example, you reach a corner of a street and your Blackberry is alerted of some digital audio at that specific location. At this point, you have the ability to perhaps listen to the audio, or even locate it in space (providing a visual representation or "Audio Graffiti") using your cell-phone camera. Further to this, perhaps a device attached to your blackberry could decode the visual waveform in realtime so you can listen to the audio...
Just a thought.
