Visual Interpretations of Audio (Music & Sound)

I came across these fantastic wave-form and other visual representations of Music and Sound on a couple sites. Providing a more visual means of "listening" to music is something that I find intriguing, especially given that it exposes another level of the emotional bond we have to auditory signals, and it also focuses on a niche segment of Gen Y, albeit indirectly, that is the hearing impaired. Why shouldn't they too experience the same richness of audio that hearing abled individuals experience?
